Stretching your dollar when you travel internationally

Many of us have family and friends who live abroad. Often times you can go visit them and you get the best of both of worlds (an international trip and, if you can stay with them, free housing yea!). But what of the international trip you take together? Well there are two exotic locales where you can go and the dollar will spend better than, say, Paris. They... [Read more...]

Georgia Wine Country

Need a great weekend trip for this spring?  Well I've got just the thing, head up 85 and then take 985 North and you'll end up near Dahlonega and in the heart of Georgia's wine region.  I went to a few tastings at a couple of wineries and found a super great place called Three Sisters Vineyards. This is the do-it-yourself and innovate winery that you would... [Read more...]

Vegas Baby!

You gotta love Vegas. It is like a giant sandbox for adults. You can eat whatever whenever you like, see a show, shop till you drop and (oh yea!) gamble. The thing about Vegas is there is something for everyone and there is a price range for everyone. I know what price range I am in and this is not it...   What you see is a "Sky Villa" at the Aria Resort... [Read more...]

I like golf. I mean I don't love golf but I like it golf- it's ok.  I really like it when I get to have a few ahemm...adult beverages, play golf and ride back to the clubhouse in the golf cart.  Then I can triumphantly say " Best Golf Game Ever!" Except I discovered this is not true- the best golf game ever involves a Llama!  Yep you read correctly, Llamas.... [Read more...]

Sure, you could put that fantastic photo of the sun setting beyond the Golden Gate Bridge on flickr, but why not upload it to the Photography page on TravellersPoint.com, where other photo buffs and travellers can admire it? There's some feedback, to be fair, on flickr, but can you send that shot of the Algerian desert as a postcard through flickr? No, but you... [Read more...]

Getaway To Gatlinburg For The Weekend

Gatlinburg is such a beautiful sight to see.  Located between the borders of Tennessee and North Carolina, it is the ideal place for hiking, river rafting, fishing, and much more.   It is also close to the most visited national park in the U.S., the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  The park is about 800 square miles of protected forest along the two... [Read more...]

Escape To The Lake (Lanier, that is)

Posted on October 29, 2009 By amarie (Edit) Leave a Comment

I know “winter” and “lake” don’t always go together, but you’d be surprised at the short getaway you can grab by heading up to Lake Lanier for the weekend. Cabin rentals are available all around the lake, and boating and fishing are still options even if swimming really isn’t. Many cabins feature Jacuzzis for midnight mountain soaks, and even in... [Read more...]

Finally! Bring Your Own Bottled Water

Our airline security in the United States hasn't exactly caught up with the times, but in Europe you can now bring liquids onto planes. No more throwing away expensive perfumes or buying expensive airport beverages, and more importantly no more being held up in security because someone didn't put their liquids in a freezer bag. Amidst all of the bad news in airline... [Read more...]
