I know “winter” and “lake” don’t always go together, but you’d be surprised at the short getaway you can grab by heading up to Lake Lanier for the weekend. Cabin rentals are available all around the lake, and boating and fishing are still options even if swimming really isn’t. Many cabins feature Jacuzzis for midnight mountain soaks, and even in cold weather, that can be a lot of fun and very relaxing, too.
