Socks is a happy cat.

I love my cat. She is the cutest, sweetest, most wonderful cat in the whole-wide world. Debate this if you must, but this is the truth. I refuse to have her de-clawed. Mostly because I think it is mean, but also because I don’t want her mad at me. One day of her pouting after I had her spayed is enough thank you very much. I just can’t have her mad at me.

So because she has her claws (and I want to spare my furniture wanton destruction), she has quite a collection of cat scratching posts. Those really big ones however, take up way to much space and pose a disposal problem once she has worked her…ahem…magic. I feel guilty throwing away a post wrapped in partly disintegrating carpet, I know it goes into a landfill and I feel really bad about that. Moreover, the carpet is usually treated with dyes and whatnot and I am not sure I want her licking her paws to groom after clawing dye-treated carpet. That can’t be good to ingest can it? I mean I don’t lick the carpet for a number of reasons; it being bad for me is one of them so why should she be any different?

Behold the answer to my dilemma- the cardboard cat scratching post.

It is made out of biodegradeable and chemical free cardboard that can be recycled. And for her further enjoyment, it is shaped like a pesky dog.

You can totally order it from Amazon.com and they’ll deliver it to the house. The cat then gets the Amazon box to play in as well. In her eyes I am the best cat mommy ever!
